It’s a big gamble to cover a massive tune like this. Loose Ends’ original came out in 1984. It was a UK top 20 hit and made Loose Ends the first British act to top the Billboard R&B chart in the US.
This version was crafted by Swiss producer Lexx, and it’s sung by Bing Ji Ling who also appeared on last year’s Balearic album singing for Cantoma. Lexx uses 808 beats, perhaps as a nod to the 80s sound, but what we really love here is how he has the confidence to rely on nothing but hooks and that laid back groove.
